However, Toyota quickly realized that a growing segment of younger, trend-conscious buyers wanted something with a bit more flair. To capture this demographic, Toyota launched the Sprinter line in 1968 through its dedicated " Toyota Auto Store " dealership network. Over the next three decades and eight distinct generations, the Sprinter would evolve from a slightly sportier Corolla clone into an independent automotive icon, spawning legendary performance variants and even causing a trademark clash with one of Germany’s largest luxury automakers.
