Ferrari Configurator - Purosangue - 4/3/23

As I was writing up about the ECC Tunnel Run, i was mistaking the Ferrari’s colour as Argento Nürburgring, rather than Grigio Titanio Metallizato. I had to hop on the Ferrari Configurator and try out both colours on an 812 Superfast (since the F12berlinetta is now out of production). And that's when I saw that the Purosangue SUV was added!

Ferrari has this 3D mode in the configurator, which I have used before, but it is kind of slow if you don't have a beefy computer. I didn’t want to wait for the car to be rendered, so I played around on the 2D version.

I am the last person you’d expect to like a non-offroad centered SUV, but the Ferrari Purosangue has changed that opinion of mine. You see, I have always loved the old Lamborghini LM002 for its sheer insanity of a Military/Civilian/Dakar-use V12 powerhouse, and because of that, the Urus was such a let down! Copy-pasted Audi RSQ8 platform also used with the VW Touareg R (I love the Audi and Volkswagen by the way), without the legendary Lamborghini Aventador V12 and quite a questionable design.

The Purosangue on the other hand achieves everything I hope the Urus would be. Timeless design with Rolls Royce Phantom-styled coach doors, a brand new chassis developed just for the car itself and a ear-throbbing 6.5L naturally aspirated F140IA V12 that was used in not only the 812 Superfast and Competizione models, but also the SP3 Daytona! The F140IA in the Purosangue produces 715hp at around 7,750rpm! Truly worthy of its namesake meaning ‘Thoroughbred’ in Italian.

The F140 engine’s history goes way back to 2002 with the introduction of the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati MC12 at a displacement of 6.0L’s. This displacement was also used by the 599 GTB and GTO models too. In 2011, the F140 was bored out to 6.3L’s and was used by countless cars including the FF, GTC4Lusso, F12berlinetta & F12tdf, and even the La Ferrari! So needless to say, the Purosangue has not cheaped out in the history side of things!

Onto the topic at hand, I played around on the configurator and these are my top 3 specs:

- Verde British with the Panoramic Roof, Liquid Silver Forged wheels with Giallo Modena calipers, the standard shiny exhausts and a full Cuoio Leather interior on the Style Seats with matching carpet and mats!

- Giallo Modena with a Carbon Fiber Roof and exterior carbon components, Matte Black & Diamond Cut Forged Wheels with Blu calipers, Black Ceramic exhaust pipes and Carta De Zucchero Alcantara Standard Seats with added Carbon Fiber detailing with Blu carpet and mats!

- Bianco Cervino with a Black Roof, Standard Glossy Brilliant Silver Rims with Rosso Corsa calipers, Matte Silver Sport exhaust pipes and Bordeaux Alcantara Style Seats with added Aluminium detailing with Rosso carpet and mats!

All in all, very nice car. I do hope to see these on the roads here in New Zealand soon! May they overtake the Lamborghini Urus in how frequently I will see them!
